Best Protein Pills of 2022

Protein pills are perfect for anyone searching for a quicker and easier alternative to protein powder.

Haven’t we always been fascinated with faster, easier delivery methods?

Meals have turned into meal replacement powders. Hell, they’ve turned into liquid meals more recently. No more messing with water. Just pop open the bottle and gulp your lunch down.

Medicines turned into injections. Pills turned into sublingual tabs.

But one thing that has remained constant is protein powders.

You still have to mix that messy scoop of powder in water or juice, and go to work with your shaker.

If the powder isn’t easily soluble, get ready to be greeted with large globs of undissolved goo in your mouth.

The other option of course would be to eat copious amounts of chicken or red meat or eggs every single meal of the day.

But you’d have to count calories and keep an eye on your saturated fat intake.

Ah. Wouldn’t life be easier if we had protein that came in easy to pop pills?

Do Protein pills Even Exist?

best protein pills

Imagine popping a couple of pills to get your 24 grams of protein post workout.

How amazing would that be.

Unfortunately, for the most part protein pills don’t exist yet. But hang on, because there is 1 product that is just dang awesome. I’ve listed it below.

You may be wondering now, why protein pills don’t exist yet.

That’s because it’s close to impossible to cram in all that protein into a tiny capsule. It would have to be a super concentrated form of protein for that to work.

Let’s say that something like that hasn’t been discovered yet, which wouldn’t cause severe gastric distress due to the concentration.

But if its protein pills you seek, then that’s what you are going to get. Or at least something close to it.

What are the best protein pills?

We have picked some really close alternatives to protein pills that can save you time as well as from potential gut problems.

Humapro Tabs Protein Matrix – Only Protein Pill Available Right Now

top protein pills

HumaPro is probably one of the only legitimate Protein Pills that you’ll find in the market currently.

These tablets are an easy way to get your daily protein requirement fulfilled without stressing your kidney or your GI system. A lot of people cannot use Whey Protein Shakes due to various reasons.

Humapro gives them a whopping 25 grams of Protein in just one serving.

Moreover, it comes with all the essential amino acids needed by the body in a precise ratio and sequenced delivery method for 100% absorption.

In simpler terms, every single gram of protein is absorbed and utilized by the body. Whey Protein on the other hand has 100% bioavailability, but a large portion of it is excreted as waste by the kidney.

The tablets are a tad big as compared to say, Vitamin pills. But that’s something that most people would live with if they can skip on protein shakes.

The standout feature of Humapro though is the incredibly low calorific value.

One serving of Humapro that gives you 25 grams of protein contains just 0.02 calories.

If you use 4 servings in a day to get 100 grams of protein, you are essentially consuming just 0.08 calories for it.

In comparison, you’d have to eat 20 oz. of lean beef to get the same amount of protein. The caveat is that it would be crammed with saturated fat and would cost you a pretty 1200 calories.

16 oz. of lean Chicken breast would be 520 calories.

If you are looking to consume protein while staying in a calorie deficit, Humapro is your best bet.

Mint Natural Health Spirulina Superfood

where to buy protein pills

Think Spirulina and most people picture a green superfood that’s crammed with antioxidants and helps prevent aging.

That’s on point.

What they do not know though is that Spirulina is also one of the most concentrated, vegan sources of protein in the world.

The protein concentration in Spirulina is even higher than that in steak if you compare it gram by gram. Go figure.

This Spirulina supplement from Mint Naturals is crammed with the goodness of Spirulina and is a great source of vegan protein for anyone who’s looking for an alternative to Whey or meat protein.

The best part is that along with protein, you also get GLA, Beta-Carotene and B-Vitamins, which are great for your skin, hair and overall health.

It also helps boost your immunity and protects your heart from free radical damage.

The pills are purified of mercury and are non-GMO verified. They are small, easy to swallow and do not leave an aftertaste even if you get burps after swallowing them.

We highly recommend these protein pills as an alternative to conventional forms of protein.

What is the Best Protein Pills Alternative?

Protein pills are a fairly new entrant into the health supplements space. Some people are quite skeptical about their effectiveness, which we can totally relate to.

If you are looking for some great alternatives to protein pills, then there’s nothing that is going to be better than these Protein powders.

Sorry to disappoint you if you were expecting something else.

However, you don’t have to stick to the same brand that you have always been using.

I have used almost every major brand of protein right from cheap ones sold in Walmart to the obscenely priced ones. I have also spent years analyzing those microscopic text on product labels as if my life depended on it.

Trust me when I tell you this, there’s a lot of junk being peddled in fancy bottles out there.

In fact, only a handful of protein powders have worked for me. Until protein pills come about, these are going to be the best options for you.

Here are my top picks.

Jocko Mölk by Origin Labs – My Favorite, You Won’t Find Better

best alternative to protein pills

An endorsement by Jocko in a podcast is what bought my attention to Mölk.

A quick search revealed that I was living under a rock. This stuff was everywhere.

As if as it was a godsend, it came right when I was looking for a change from my expensive Whey Protein brand at that time.

Jocko Mölk is the most delicious whey protein isolate you’ll ever taste.

It’s advertised as an Isolate. But in reality it is a blend that contains a timed release of whey concentrate, whey isolate, micellar casein, and egg protein.

Perfect for post workouts, pre workouts, mid-day protein cravings, just about any time of the day.

Each serving gives you 21 grams of quality Protein along with a whole bunch of essential Amino acids that ensure optimum nutrient delivery to worn out muscles.

As if things weren’t good enough already, Jocko also throws in some probiotics and digestive enzymes that keep GI issues at bay. If you have ever struggled with digestive problems and flatulence after guzzling one protein shake too many, you’ll know why this is so important.

Simply put, this is one of the best protein powders for sensitive stomachs.

Coming to the best part, the taste. Every flavor of Mölk tastes delicious, creamy and like the milk shake that we love so much.

It’s the only protein that I’ve tried that has an excellent and unique taste unlike any other.

Irrespective of what your fitness goal is, go for Mölk. You won’t regret it one bit.

P.S. Don’t be surprised if you are buying more than you can afford.

Ascent Native Fuel

best protein pills you can buy

I really like this blended protein from Ascent for many reasons. The most important one though is that it uses Native Whey as the protein source.

For the uninitiated, Native Whey is not heated after the cheese-making process to denature the protein.

This ensures that it has a high concentration of essential amino acids. The most notable one being Leucine, which is vital for enhanced performance.

Each serving delivers 25 grams of fast digesting proteins which makes it a great choice for post workout shakes. There are no artificially added ingredients or unwanted fillers that increase the calorie count and cause bloat.

The ingredient panel is minimal and that’s how proteins should be.

In addition to the protein, each serving also gives you 5.7g of natural BCAA.

Not to mention that this protein powder is low sodium and extremely low fat.

Oh, by the way, this stuff tastes great. I have tried the Cappuccino, Chocolate, Vanilla Bean and the Peanut Butter flavors.

Waiting for Lemon Sorbet to get back in stock.

Fuel Whey

Fuel’s Whey Protein ticks all the boxes that I generally look for while shopping for protein powders. It has a very clean profile.

There’s no soy, no artificial fillers and flavors, no RBST and no gluten either.

The whey is sourced from grass fed cows raised in NZ and Australia, that are never exposed to antibiotics and growth hormones.

Each serving gives you 25 grams of Whey Protein, 2 grams of fiber sourced from Apple Pectin powder and 4.5g of Medium Chain Triglycerides sourced from Coconut.

The healthy fats are great for your skin, joints and hair, while the added fiber helps with the digestion. No more cramps and flatulence.

The best part is that each serving is just 130 calories. Even if I toss two scoops into my post workout drink, I only consume 260 calories.

Oh, it tastes incredibly good too.

Can I make my own protein pills?

making protein pills

Protein pills sound so good in theory that a lot of people want to try and make their own.

I tried it as well at one point of time and even came up with a very rudimentary version that I shared with my friends.

The problem though was that despite my best attempts, I could only manage to create a pill that delivers 3 measly grams of protein. So, to meet my 100 grams/ day that I typically source from protein powders, I’d have to pop 30 of them.

After all the effort of carefully measuring the powder and then creating pills, it’s just not worth it if you’ve got to pop 30 of them every day.

You know what’s easier to use? Protein powders. There’s a reason why they are so popular and considered to be the gold standard in the gym by bodybuilders.

If you are bored of adding them to shakes, you can just bake cookies with them or brownies even. There are tons of creative ways to use protein powders.

If I work out just how much protein should I be getting in each day?

how much protein should i consume from protein pills

You’ll see all sorts of recommendations being made about the ideal protein intake for fitness buffs.

However, it all depends on your individual fitness levels, your age, your weight, your health and your lifestyle.

The National Institutes of Health for example, recommends just 0.36 x bodyweight in grams of protein a day if you have a sedentary lifestyle.

The American College of Sports Medicine on the other hand recommends that you consume 0.5 to 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight if you are looking to increase muscle growth or maintain it.

Elite athletes and professional bodybuilders can consume up to 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight. But that’s not really optimum for the average fitness buff and gym bro.

Stick to the 0.8 gram per pound number and you should get enough protein to meet your fitness goals.

Does the timing of protein intake matter?

Again, there’s no clear verdict on this.

Some people believe that the anabolic window (45-60 minutes immediately after your workout when your body is primed to receive the nutrients) is a load of bull.

Science though believes that it is better if you divide your daily protein intake amongst all your meals.

So, 35% at breakfast, 35% at lunch and 30% at dinner would be a better idea than 10% at breakfast, 30% at lunch and 60% at dinner, which is how most Americans consume their protein currently.

I recommend that you stick to whatever works best for you. That’s what I’ve followed and its worked for me.

What are your thoughts on timing your protein intake?
