NordicTrack T 6.5 S Treadmill Review

Take a look around my site, and you’ll notice that I’ve been recommending the T 6.5 S from NordicTrack all over the place, and it's because this one definitely deserves a high praise for a helluva lot of reasons.

Sleek, Compact Design

The NordicTrack T 6.5 S Treadmill boasts a simple, compact design. It only measures 67.5 x 35.75 x 73 inches and weighs no more than 198 pounds, making it just perfect for small apartments. Despite its small size, the unit is still pretty sturdy and steady, though, no matter how fast you run when using it.

Aesthetically-speaking, this model doesn’t really stand out, as it looks like any other treadmill within the same price range. That said, it does have a modern, stylish look, meaning that it can be displayed in any room with pride.

Solid, Quiet Performance

Thanks to its 2.6 HP motor, the T 6.5 S treadmill allows the belt, which measures 22 x 55 inches, to reach up to 10 MPH in speed and 10 degrees in incline. For a treadmill at this price, those numbers do stand out.

You know that with great power comes great responsibility, but did you know that, when it comes to powered machines, with great power comes loud noise?

Well, fortunately, that’s not the case for this treadmill, which, although powerful, this treadmill is extremely quiet.

Finally, to help you keep track of your progress, the T 6.5 S features a 5-inch display that shows what’s going on in your workout, including your time, distance, and calories burned.

Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7515 Treadmill Review

Released back in 2019, the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7515 is a machine worth considering for anyone who’s looking for a walk or run in the comfort of their home. This treadmill made it to my list simply for being an affordable piece of machinery with a number of great features.

For starters, the SF-T7515 comes with a 2.2 HP motor, 12 workout programs, and a smart Bluetooth-enabled console, just to list a few!

Convenient Design

The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7575 comes with a foldable deck that can be lifted up and locked in place, making the unit’s length a bit over 40”. Upon folding the unit, its dimensions are 40.25” L x 28” W x 54.75” H. The unit also weighs 121 pounds only, making it easy to move around.

The machine is also equipped with a “soft drop” system, which hydraulically assists you while lowering the treadmill’s deck to ensure a soft and slow process. This system helps to prevent any accidental damage to the deck when folding or unfolding it.

The SF-T7515 in itself isn’t a bulky machine, its dimensions, when set-up, are 64.5” L and 28”, however, I still recommend that you keep at least 3 feet of clearance on the rear and 2 feet on the sides for a safe workout.

Capable Motor

Before getting into detail on how this treadmill’s motor performs, it is important to mention that the SF-T7515 is mainly a walking and jogging treadmill rather than a running one. However, I can personally guarantee you that its 2.2 horsepower motor is more than capable of providing you with seamless jogging workouts.

A Good Set of Workout Programs

The SF-T7515 comes out of the box with 12 preset workout programs, which automatically adjust anything from the incline to the speed of the belt.

Moreover, you can create up to 3 user profiles with the ability to adjust to 10 segments of a workout program in each and save it for later.

Sunny Health & Fitness themselves have a great library of treadmill workout programs for seniors and athletes that can be found on their website and YouTube channel, available to you at any time.

Decent Connectivity Options

You can easily connect the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T7515 with your smartphone via Bluetooth. The treadmill comes equipped with stereo speakers, so you can listen to your favorite tunes without any compromise in quality.

The Bluetooth connectivity also allows you to receive any calls while exercising, an option that is always welcomed in my opinion.

Additionally, basic media functions such as play, pause, forward/rewind, and volume up and down are all available are all at your fingertips, literally.

XTERRA Fitness TR150Treadmill Review

The XTERRA Fitness TR150 is an excellent choice for anyone who’s looking for a good small footprint entry-level treadmill  for numerous reasons.

Compact Yet Sturdy Construction

The XTERRA Fitness TR150’s dimensions are as follows: 63.4x 28.75 x 51.4 inches. Like the three treadmills that I’ve already dealt with above, the TR150 here is foldable. Its dimensions become 28.5 x 28.75 x 61 inches when folded, allowing you to easily slide it in some corner once you’re done with your exercises without having to worry about it taking too much floor space.

The treadmill’s actual running surface is 16 x 50 inches, which is more than enough for most exercises but can prove rather troublesome for anyone who’s interested in performing advanced running workouts. Also, it may not be suitable for bigger and/or taller guys and gals.

Another important aspect of the XTERRA Fitness TR150 is how much weight it can support. While most of the other budget-friendly treadmills support around 220 pounds maximum, the TR150 has a weight capacity of 250 pounds.

I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a great deal for me, and it can prove to be rather a helpful thing to have for people of greater weight.

Decent Capabilities for the Price

The XTERRA TR150 comes equipped with a 2.25 HP motor, which translates into average speeds of 10 MPH.

While such a number is perfect for people who are looking into light running exercises, it might come as a turn off for those who fancy a more hardcore workout. If you happen to be one of those people, then I can’t really blame you for choosing to avoid TR150, but if you’re not, then I highly recommend it.

Extra Features

The features that the XTERRA Fitness TR150 comes with out of the box are many, including:

  • 5” LCD display that tracks your: distance covered, speed, total time spent, calories burned, and pulse rate
  • Heart pulse grip sensor on the side of the handlebars which provides you with accurate numbers of your cardiovascular functions
  • 12 preset workout programs with various levels of intensity
  • Three incline options at the tip of your hands

Horizon Fitness T101 Treadmill Review

The Horizon Fitness T101 is one of the most popular “budget-friendly” treadmills out there. However, don’t let that fool you into thinking that this affects the overall quality of the machine.

Budget-Friendly Yet of High Quality

Horizon themselves claim to have thoroughly tested their products at each stage of the manufacturing process. They also offer a lifetime warranty on both the motor and the frame of the T101 treadmill, which is a great thing to have in my book, especially when considering that this is the most affordable treadmill that is currently being offered by them.

Specs and Features

The T101 rocks a 2.5 CHP motor, 20” x 55” running surface, 9 built-in workout programmable options, and a FeatherLight™ folding frame.

folding system of the budget apartment treadmill

It’s also equipped with a pulse grip monitor for your heart rate and a three-zone Variable Response Cushioning system.

As for the features, the Horizon T101 boasts many:

  • Three red-colored LED windows that allow you to track your heart rate, calories, distance, speed, incline, and your time through the target.
  • FeatherLight™ folding lift system which provides a fast fold up, enabling you to easily store the treadmill and free up your floor space.
  • Speakers that you can play your music on either by plugging in your device via the AUX jack or by simply connecting to the treadmill via Bluetooth.
  • A fan to keep you cool during a long, intensive workout.
  • A 3-Zone Variable Response Cushioning system which will quickly prove to be helpful by keeping the joints in both your ankles and knees healthy.
Numerous Workout Programs

The Horizon Fitness T101 comes out of the box with 30 pre-installed workout programs, which will help you attain whatever fitness goals you have set in mind. These programs will also challenge you and keep you motivated along the way.

These programs will help those who are looking to lose weight, to increase their muscle tone, or to strengthen their heart. These options are great for both people who have just started their fitness journey and those who are already experienced.

The Horizon T101 also offers nine programming options with three workouts (manual, weight loss, intervals) and three targets (distance, time, calories).

In order to make sure that you’re on track to your objective in the midst of an intense workout, you can always utilize the T101’s built-in pulse grips to monitor your current heart rate plus a quick readout, both of which will be displayed on the LED window.

In the current market, it is fair to say that the Horizon Fitness T101 treadmill deserves all the attention it’s getting, a well-built and budget-friendly option for anyone who’s looking for a workout at home.
In addition to being an overall well-built, well-functioning treadmill, the T101 also comes with a USB charging port and built-in speakers with Bluetooth support, extras that anyone will appreciate.

Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T4400 Treadmill Review

Yet another treadmill from Sunny Health & Fitness, the SF-T4400, is another well-built, budget-friendly fitness machine.

Good Design

The SF-T4400 dimensions are 62 x 25.5 x 50 inches, and it’s foldable, which would decrease the length of the machine to just 36” and increase its height by 8”. The running deck itself is 49” in length and 15.5” in width, which is more than enough for anyone.

Moreover, like the SF-T7515, the SF-T4400 comes with the hydraulic “soft drop” mechanism, which ensures you a hassle-free and safe folding and unfolding.

The treadmill’s weight capacity is rated at 220 pounds, a pretty common capacity for this price range.
Additionally, the SF-T4400 comes with a shock absorption system and transportation wheels for your convenience.

Motor

The Sunny Health & Fitness SF-T4400 is run by a 2.20 HP motor, which provides a seamless and noiseless experience with speeds varying from 0.5 MPH to up to 9 MPH.

Although the motor is quite a sturdy piece of machinery, I don’t recommend fast running much on this machine. However, if you’re simply looking for a smooth casual workout, then this machine is more than capable of providing you just that!

Plenty Features

In addition to having a great design, the SF-T4400 comes with numerous great features, some of which you rarely find on treadmills in this price range, including:

  • 9 various preset workout programs
  • LCD monitor with indicators of time, distance, calories burned and pulse
  • Safety lock function & power-saving function
  • Bottle and device holder
  • 3 quick speed buttons (2/4/6 MPH)

Sole F80 Treadmill Review

The name ‘Sole Fitness’ should ring a bell if you’re familiar with the top dogs in the fitness industry. The Utah-based company rose to the summit of the food chain by producing premium and highly rated fitness equipment over the years. The F80 treadmill is one of their most popular and best-selling products.

Form and Design

When it comes to treadmill shopping, your focus shouldn’t be on the design or visual appeal but on the features and performance. That’s not to say that a great design is not a welcome bonus. It’s going to occupy your apartment space, after all.

Sole Fitness knew this, and they left no stone unturned when designing the F80 treadmill.

The F80 treadmill is great for small apartments because it has a foldable frame, which makes it very mobile and unassuming in tight spaces (when you’re not using it). The equipment is manufactured with alloy steel and has a white back-lit color that oozes elegance.

Its z-shaped aluminum frame is one of the very best in the industry and provides sturdy support for the treadmill. This also explains why it can support more than its weight capacity.

The most important thing about the design is that it houses state-of-the-art features.

Specifications

There’s a reason this award-winning equipment has been dubbed ‘the best treadmill in its class’ by customers and third-party review experts. The F80 boasts of these features:

  • A touchscreen panel powered by Android 10.1 and a wireless charging pad for your gadgets.
  • Its display has built-in entertainment apps and a screen mirroring feature that will make your workout sessions exciting.
  • A cushioned running surface that decreases impact by 40% -  its proprietary Cushion Flex Whisper Deck. This will give you a quiet workout experience.
  • Several workout programs, including HIIT, Strength, Cardio, Fat Burn, Manual Hill, Fitness, 5X, 10X, HRC, Fitness Test (Army, Coast Guard. Marine Corps), Custom, and many more to choose from. The F80 also comes with speed and incline controls to execute these workout programs.
  • A wireless audio feature, built-in speakers, a USB port, and a device holder.
Performance Level

The F80 runs on a 3.5 HP motor, which is why it has no qualms, reaching a top speed of 12 MPH.

The treadmill also has cooling fans that keep the equipment at consistent optimal performance levels despite the heat emission. This means you can exercise for hours with no drop in performance.

With up to 15 incline levels, the F80 was, without a doubt, designed to test your fitness and resilience.

ProForm 905 CST Treadmill Review

Unlike your average Joe, a runner needs a great deal of features in their treadmill. Otherwise, how would they get an authentic running experience without leaving their house?

Well, if you’re a runner, I present to you the ProForm 905 CST, the best small treadmill for runners.

Runner-Friendly Surface and Motor

I wanted to start with the running surface because that’s arguably the most crucial feature that runners would check in a treadmill.

The 905 CST has a running surface of 20 x 60 inches, which is large and wide enough for any user to walk or run comfortably.

If you’re a runner, you’ll certainly appreciate such a running surface as it will allow you to stretch out comfortably while running at top speeds without having to shorten the length of your stride.

To make your running experience even more enjoyable and superior, the unit the company’s patented ProShox Cushioning system giving this treadmill the most cushioned deck possible. That system is designed to reduce the compression forces through your legs, thus allowing you to run for even longer distances.

The runner-friendly features don’t end there, though. The treadmill also packs a powerful 3.0 HP motor capable of reaching up to 12 MPH in speed with a maximum incline of 12%. All of that at such a price point makes the ProForm905 CST truly a steal.

Everything You Need for a Complete Workout

The 905 CST comes equipped with 30 built-in workout programs, and it’s compatible with the iFit app. I don’t see how anyone could get bored with this treadmill given all the possibilities.

To level up your workouts, the unit also features a couple of speakers so that you can enjoy your favorite jams, a grip heart monitor along with a chest strap monitor so that you can keep your vitals in check, and quick touch speed/incline settings so that you can tackle your workouts effortlessly.

LifeSpan TR1200-DT3 Under Desk Treadmill Review

LifeSpan’s top-selling walking desk treadmill, the TR1200-DT3 is the perfect choice for anyone who’s looking to turn their standing desk into a treadmill desk. This treadmill will under your bed, in your closet, or in any other tight space. It's extremely compact and space saving.

Stylish Design

Upon first inspection, you’ll clearly notice that LifeSpan designed this treadmill with the idea of using it in the office in mind. Its refined, sturdy construction, among many other design choices, makes it the perfect addition to your office.

I’ve tried this fine piece of machinery myself, and I have to say, it’s probably one of the quietest treadmills that I’ve ever set foot on.

Brilliant engineering, coupled with high-quality noise-suppressing components, help maintain the whole “office aesthetic” of this treadmill by helping you stay respectful of your coworkers while you walk.

To get into specifics on how this works, the TR1200-DT3 rocks six impact-absorbing shocks, which help dampen the walking noise as much as possible.

Additionally, the treadmill’s top-notch construction allows it to support up to 350 pounds, way more than most of the competition.

Practical Features

Don’t let the TR1200-DT3’s compact size fool you into thinking that it lacks in the features department. On the contrary, it comes packed with good features out of the box, including:

  • A small console that fits nicely on your desk w/ Bluetooth connectivity, this makes this treadmill amazing for apps like Zwift
  • LifeSpan’sIntelli-guard safety feature which stops the treadmill once you step off it
  • LifeSpan’sIntelli-Step which keeps count of your daily steps and overall progress
  • Customizable Personal Settings
Capable Motor

The LifeSpan TR1200-DT3 features a 2.25 Horsepower motor that delivers speeds that vary from 0.4 to 4.0 MPH. Now, that might seem low when compared to the treadmills that I’ve reviewed about, but keep in mind that this is a walking treadmill designed for professional spaces.

Additionally, you have to appreciate LifeSpan’s engineering when it comes to this treadmill’s motor; I’m not lying when I say that it’s one of the quietest motors out there.

How to Choose the Best Small Treadmill for Your Apartment

Here are some tips to help you choose the best treadmill for your specific apartment living situation if you decide that you are not fond of any of the options on your list

Workout Space and Treadmill Size

One of the most important factors to consider whenever you’re looking to buy a treadmill for your apartment is whether or not it’s going to fit in your place.

You must allocate a specific space to your future treadmill and measure it so you can use it as a reference when you’re shopping. If you’re thinking of getting a folding treadmill, you’ll also want to measure the space where you’re going to store it.

Make sure you take length, width, and height measurements of that space. Fortunately, you can easily figure out the exact measurements of any given treadmill. Check above, and you’ll find that I’ve included the dimensions and weight of every treadmill that I reviewed.

Another thing that is worth keeping in mind is the treadmill belt size as it affects the overall treadmill footprint.

If you’re going to use it for walking and jogging then a 20-inch wide belt should be good enough. However, if you’re also going to be running long distances on it, then it is recommended to go for a 22-inch wide belt. When it comes to the belt lengths, I recommend at least 50 inches for walkers and 55 inches for runners.

After you figure out how much space you need in your home, you can start thinking about the actual size of the treadmill. When it comes to the standard home treadmills, they tend to be 7’ long and 3’ wide. With that said, you can find shorter and smaller ones in the form of foldable treadmills.

Budget for a Home Treadmill

Aside from space, you also need to consider how much you’re able to spend on a treadmill. When it comes to home treadmills, they are usually big and expensive.

With that said, you’ll have the get the best one your budget you can afford. The better the treadmill, the more you’ll be able to get out of it, for longer, and with the least amount of noise.

Another thing to take into consideration whenever you’re buying anything, especially sports equipment, is that it’s better to spend more in the short term to spend less in the long term.

Meaning invest up front on quality, so you aren't spending later on fixing.

Other than the ones on my list above, if you’re looking for something durable, expect to spend no less than $1,000. If you’re looking for durability, quality, and stability, you should look into treadmills that are between $1,500 and $3,000. Overall, we recommend you buy anything $1,500 or above.

If you don’t have that sort of money lying around, we advise you to avoid buying new treadmills that are cheaper than $1,000.

They are far less durable than the more expensive models, with these models, wondering how long you should run on the treadmill isn't just a health question but also a budget question.

There are cheaper alternatives you can go for, but if you intend to look in that price range, you can find some good used or refurbished treadmills with excellent value if you’re willing to dive deep.

Treadmill Motor Horsepower

One of the biggest factors that determine a treadmill’s quality is the motor horsepower. It affects the overall speed and even trickles down to more stability. With that said, understanding motor specifications can be a bit finicky.

The gist of it is that you should look for a motor with 1.5 continuous-duty horsepower. Depending on your weight and how often you intend to use the treadmill, you might want to opt for engines with 2.5 or 3.0 CHP.

Minimum Specifications

In addition to the factors we mentioned above, here are some other features and specs that are worth taking into account.

Control Panel

The treadmill’s control panel should be easy to use and accessible. Most treadmills with big screens will have their control panel on the display but smaller apartment treadmills like these will typically have them on a small LCD or analog screen that is bare bones.

No matter the screen size or features, make sure that it is easy to use.

Incline

If your searching for a treadmill with an incline, I recommend getting a treadmill with at least a 10% or more incline capability. Some treadmills also have a decline feature. Using incline and decline can help you simulate outdoor runs and could make for overall better exercise sessions.

Maximum Weight Rating

If you’re larger than average, you might want to consider the maximum weight rating of treadmills. Make sure that the treadmill of your choice can comfortably handle your weight.

Keep in mind that the advertised figure does not accurately reflect your treadmill’s capabilities. Instead, subtract 50 pounds from the shown value for a more reasonable, safe, and realistic estimate.

Speed

Depending on how intensely you want to work out, you’ll need a treadmill that can go as much and beyond your capabilities. I recommend something that can go up to 10 mph or faster.

That said, lower speeds can work depending on your own preferences and fitness level. A smaller treadmill designed for seniors will typically only go up to 4-6 mph but a professional treadmill that is designed for commercial gyms and athlete gym setups will typically go 12+ mph.

Stability

The last thing you’ll want is for your treadmill to be all wobbly when you run on it, so make sure the one you’re buying is stable.

Another way to add even more stability to your treadmill workouts that I recommend is buying yourself a quality pair of treadmill running shoes as these will help keep your feet stable and more comfortable when using your treadmill.

Space and Folding Treadmills

As I mentioned in the earlier sections, you must take the proper space measurements of your apartment home gym or workout space before you go looking for treadmills. If you don’t have too much space to spare in your home, you can opt for a folding treadmill instead. However, there are some extra things that you’ll need to consider.

For instance, you may find that some models are easier to fold than other ones. Some models might be heavier than others, and some will require you to tilt them back on their wheels to move them. The best way to figure out which one to go for is to test out as many as you can so you get the best idea.

Treadmill Warranty, Delivery, and Set-up

Taking a look at a treadmill’s warranty can give you a good idea about its reliability and overall quality. Try looking for a treadmill with a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame.

At the very least, look for a 10-year warranty. When it comes to electronics, they should have a 5-year warranty and a 2-year warranty for the parts and labor.

As for the delivery, it can dramatically spike up the price of the treadmill. You need to make sure that you know what you’re paying for. Some treadmills might include extra hidden fees, so you need to keep an eye out for them. I recommend just ordering from amazon as they have proven to be the best place to buy weights, fitness equipment, and sports gear time and time again.

Overall, you need to consider how you’re going to move the treadmill to the desired place. Additionally, most new treadmills will require some assembly. All of these services can be included with the treadmill at an additional cost.

FAQ About Small Apartment Treadmills

These are the most common questions I get asked by my readers who are looking for a small footprint treadmill for their apartment living setup.

Can I use a Treadmill in an Apartment?

Yes, of course you can but there are a few things that you must be sure to get right when buying your treadmill.

  • It needs to be quiet - this is extremely important and is why i recommend just picking a treadmill from my list because I have done the testing and research for you and to be honest, I really do not think you can do better.
  • It needs to small - Obviously if you are getting a piece of equipment for a small area you probably need it to fit...
  • It should be easy to setup and move - Living in an apartment, you may need to move your treadmill. Having one the is easy to setup, move, or take apart is essential.

Does My Lease Allow it?

This usually depends on the lease agreement. If your lease is not clear about it, you can contact your landlord about the subject. Most likely though, this is going to be allowed and I really do not know of any apartment complex that would not allow a treadmill. But keep in mind, it needs to be quiet.

Do I Have Enough Space?

This is a question I get asked often. I have no clue, you will have to determine this yourself. How big is your workout space? Look at the dimensions and then figure it out. You might be better off considering a spin bike instead of a treadmill.

Can My Electric Systems Handle the Load?

Unless you are buying a self propelled treadmill you will need to power the motor from something. That something being your wall outlet in your apartment. The good news is most complexes will supply more than enough juice. The majority of residential treadmill models use a standard 120V, grounded, dedicated outlet. So with that said, yes you will most likely be just fine. They do not consume that much juice.

Will This Affect My Neighbors?

Treadmills can be noisy. Some models are quieter than others. However, you’ll still want to carefully choose your workout times as not to bother your neighbors.

Is It Okay to Get the Treadmill in My Apartment?

Depending on where you live and how bulky the treadmill is, getting it in your apartment can either be as simple as hello or a living nightmare.

To avoid the worst situations, make sure to take into consideration if there are stairs large enough to accommodate the treadmill, or if there is a large enough elevator.
